Guyana lies in far northeast South America. The small country shares a border with Venezuela & Suriname. Guyana is the only South American country where English is the official language. Today we highlight 5 reasons why you might want to experience the beauty of Guyana.
Shell Beach
Shell Beach, is a stretch of 90-mile long beach, located in the Northwestern Region of Guyana. The beach is made up of billions of shell pieces. It is the only place in Guyana where four of the world’s eight endangered species of marine turtles come to lay their eggs. If you want to see these massive reptiles they usually arrive from March to August every year, so plan your trip during that time.

The Amazon forest & The Savannahs of the Rupunini
Almost three-quarters of the country is forested. You can experience the beauty of the Amazon by booking a visit through a touring company.

The Savannahs of the Rupununi is an extensive area of wilderness that supports a large percentage of Guyana’s bio-diversity. You will see Amerindian cowboys called Vaqueros roaming the area. While here, you can stop by the largest cattle ranch in the world, The Dadanawa cattle.

Kaietuer falls
Kaieteur Falls is In volume and height the world largest single drop waterfall! Move over Niagara Falls! It is located in the Kaieteur National Park and drops over 800 ft.

Rodeo in the land of the vaqueros: American Indians have bull riding and wild horse riding competitions.

Duck curry Olympics: teams from different parts of the world come to compete with the best duck curry cooks of Guyana. Semi-finals take place in May, the final is in July.

Festival of the Amerindians: The month of September hosts Guyana’s nine Amerindian tribes in presenting their ancient legends, arts, music, dances and lifestyle.
