If you have never had this amazing combination, you are missing out on life! The perfect harmony that chicken and waffles together creates is mind blowing! This is of course, assuming that they are both done correctly. The following places, in my opinion, have the art of chicken and waffles down to a science.
ROSCOES HOUSE OF CHICKEN AND WAFFLES, Los Angeles CA
Roscoe’s claims chicken is their specialty and I am in no position to argue with them! I ordered my usual, the Carol special: 1 breast and 1 waffle and a side of Mac & cheese! My mother and my Boyfriend ordered the Scoe’s: ¼ of a chicken prepared southern style and 2 waffles. If you usually order a regular drink with your order, this isn’t the place to do so, trust me. When you visit Roscoe’s order the Sunset, Eclipse, or Sunrise and you won’t be disappointed.
HASH HOUSE A GO GO, Las Vegas NV (also in Connecticut inside The Mohegan Sun Hotel & Casino)
This little Vegas gem is right on the strip inside of the Quad hotel! I had either been too hung-over, drunk or both to ever notice it in my previous visits to Las Vegas until my recent visit last month (Thank you Jeff for putting me on). Let me first warn you that you should expect a wait of anywhere between 15-40 minutes depending on the size of your party. When we went, there were a lot of people waiting but because we were only a party of 2 our wait was only about 15 minutes. There is a little bar at the front, so while you wait make sure you have one of their delicious Bloody Mary drinks. If that’s not your drink of choice, then have any other drink from the bar that will help ease the pain of having to wait. Whatever you do, however, just remember: IT WILL BE WORTH THE WAIT! We ordered the Sage Fried Chicken & Waffles which is two sage fried chicken breasts with hardwood smoked bacon waffle tower, hot maple reduction and fried leeks! It sounds like a lot and it is! So brace yourself and make sure you bring your appetite. You can also do what we did and split it. You are going to lose your mind when you realize the waffles have bacon in them! *Drools*
Make sure you add this to your “places to eat list” next time you travel to either city!
