Ports of Call Resort is centrally located in the beautiful area of Grace Bay on Providenciales in the island of Turks and Caicos. It is just a short 15 minute drive from Providenciales Airport (PLS), making it easy to get to by cab or shared airport transportation. It’s location makes renting a car into an option and not a necessity.
The resort is only a block and a half away from the beach making it ideal for those who want a hotel in a prime location that doesn’t exhaust their budget. Ports of Call provides beach chairs on the beach and a shuttle to take you to the beach, but i recommend you make the easy 3-5 minute walk.
While the resort may not be a huge luxury resort, it does provide very comfortable accommodations. Staying here feels like you are visiting your vacation home on the Island. The rooms are good size suites with a comfortable bed, powerful air conditioner, a couch and mini fridge. The rooms are also equipped with a coffee maker, WiFi, a blow dryer, an iron, iron board, shampoo and conditioner.
The staff is very helpful and welcoming. We felt like we had been coming here for years, which says a lot about the type of experience you should expect. There are no restaurants inside the hotel, instead they are located right across in the Ports Of Call plaza. The plaza is made up of different shops, a salon, spa and a couple of bar and restaurants. Located to the left of the hotel, is an IGA grocery store where you can do some shopping for basics you might need for your stay on the Island.
About a 10 minute walk from the hotel, in either direction, you will find more restaurant options to choose from. You can also rent a bike from Caicos Wheels, located in the Ports of Call Plaza, and ride along either direction to explore the Island and visit other beaches. This is the great thing about Ports of Call Resort, unlike huge luxury resorts who have everything inside, it encourages people to explore Providenciales and not just the resort grounds.
Ports of Call Resort has a bar located by the pool with reasonable drink prices and a friendly bartender. If you need a gym to stay on track with your fitness goals, there is a small fitness center located inside the resort. You will also find a pool table to pass some time and a small hammock area to relax in while catching some sun. The resort also provides a free complimentary continental breakfast in the small dining area every morning to it’s guest. While the breakfast might not be extravagant, it is a great way to grab a snack that will hold you over until lunch time. The Island is expensive, so anyone who is looking to cut a few corners will greatly appreciate this nice gesture on the resort’s behalf.
